Pigs Rock

This post features student writing and photography.

Today we woke up bright and early to start a fun-filled day of manual labor and working with kids at the day care. To help decide which project we want to work on, we divided into two groups. One group started at the day care, where we played fun games like Pato, Pato, Perro (Duck, Duck, Dog — we didn’t know how to say ¨goose¨ in Spanish) with the kids. The other group continued to move rocks to the community center.

After a tiring morning, we took a well-deserved break for lunch and a game of soccer with some of the local kids. Then we all went to the construction site and continued to move the rocks up and down the hill. While we were moving the rocks, we discovered a giant black and white pig in the middle of our path. She made no plans to get out of our way, and often times we had to step over her. We then had two hours to hang out, take showers, or play games with the kids. It was a long yet rewarding day, filled with fun and hard work.
