Our first full day in the Galapagos was packed! We started at the tortoise breeding center, where we saw different different kinds of tortoises of all different ages. After lunch, we split into two groups of kayakers and snorkelers. While on our kayak tour, we had a sea lion tag along with us for the ride, and we saw pelicans, blue-footed boobies, and penguins. All of the wildlife was friendly and seemed not to notice us as we paddled near them.
I, Dominic, think snorkeling was the highlight of my day (along with eating empanadas). Seeing a wild sea lion in the wild was one of the best experiences I have ever had. Even though we were wearing snorkels and goggles, everyone could tell from our big eyes that we were all in awe that this was actually happening! We’re so glad we experienced this with our group.
